Harness Awareness, Inspection & Use
Select, pre-use inspect, fit and use a full body harness and lanyard, and understand rescue planning.
About this course
A full body harness only protects the wearer when it is the right harness, fitted correctly, connected to a suitable anchor and covered by a workable rescue plan. This course covers harness types, pre-use inspection, donning and adjustment, energy absorbing lanyards, fall clearance calculation, suspension trauma and the legal duty to plan rescue before work starts.
What you will be able to do
- Identify harness and lanyard types and their correct application
- Complete and record a pre-use harness inspection
- Don and adjust a full body harness to the correct fit
- Calculate required fall clearance below the anchor point
- Explain suspension trauma and the need for a pre-planned rescue
Assessment
The course finishes with a multiple choice knowledge check. You need 75% or higher to pass. Marking is instant, retakes are unlimited and free, and your certificate is issued the moment you pass — including a virtual card for your phone wallet.
