About this course
Manual handling injuries are the largest single cause of lost time in UK construction. Most are cumulative rather than dramatic. This course covers the hierarchy of avoid, assess and reduce, the TILE assessment, safe lifting and lowering technique, team lifts and the use of mechanical aids.
What you will be able to do
- Apply the avoid, assess, reduce hierarchy to handling tasks
- Carry out a TILE assessment of a load and task
- Use correct lifting, lowering, carrying and team lift technique
- Select appropriate mechanical handling aids
- Report handling risks and early symptoms before injury occurs
Assessment
